Civil Engineering technicians are at the cutting edge of designing, constructing and maintaining everything from airports to sewage systems. Upon completion of this Apprenticeship, you will have developed the skills, knowledge and competence to carry out duties in the workplace.
What will I learn?
This programme is designed to cover the skills and knowledge of a wide variety of civil engineering duties, including developing and finalising a wide range of civil engineering solutions. An example of the areas you will study are found below:
- Health, safety and welfare in construction and the built environment
- Sustainable construction
- Mathematics in construction and the built environment
- Science and materials in construction
- Surveying in construction and civil engineering
- Construction in civil engineering
How will I be taught?
You will be based with your employer four days per week and attend College one day per week on day release where you will learn theory from industry trained tutors. You will be kept on track in the workplace by a Preston’s College assessor.

Completion of the Level 3 Apprenticeship can lead onto Higher Level study as well as giving you the knowledge and competence to work efficiently in the industry.
