The Central Lancashire Construction Skills Hub aims to provide support to the construction industry in Preston, Chorley and South Ribble to ensure the social and economic benefit for the people of central Lancashire.
The primary aims are to deliver a collaborative approach to training in central Lancashire by the objectives detailed below:
- Co-ordinate and deliver Central Lancashire Construction Conferences detailing key information on the economic and construction activity across the region, engaging large construction organisations and SMEs and the self-employed.
- Co-ordinate and deliver training events which enable construction organisations to develop existing practices and allow advancement in capability of procurement and contractual administration and implementation. This objective includes delivery of information and guidance to careers advisors and teaching staff in Primary education, secondary education and further education.
- The development of new construction Apprenticeship standards via the creation of a bespoke employer development group. The submission of new construction Apprenticeship professional standards at Levels 3 and 4.
- The promotion of the construction sector in Primary, Secondary and Further education. This will be administered by embedding social values in current projects in central Lancashire, the promotion of the construction industry at various educational events throughout the academic year, together with the creation of a new 14-16 Pathway for construction delivered by Preston’s College and the Eric Wright Learning Foundation.
